Rs 1.6 crores swindled, NHB files FIR

DIMAPUR, JUNE 13 (MExN): The Managing Director of the National Horticulture Board (NHB), basing on official report has lodged a written complaint with the Dimapur Police alleging a fraud of Rs.1.6 crores. The NHB which provides subsidiary to projects have 650 projects in waiting list in the NE region.

Police sources said that the cost of 75 projects have been cleared by the Bank of Baroda, 17 by the Central Bank while 20 by the Union Bank of India which were all found to be bogus. The NHB has filed a case in which it said Rs 1.6 crores has been swindled said the police. The police further said that the NHB has mentioned the name of I. Nochet Imcha in the filed FIR of fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.40 lakhs in the name of Duncan Consultants. 

The NHB sent two officers from NHB Gurgaon for random spot verification but the accused fled Dimapur due to threat from armed miscreants said the police.

Further, the NHB sent another team in the last week of March after which the complaint was filed said the police. Bank officials are investigating in more cases but till the time of filing this report no one has been charge sheeted.

The main accused has been absconding and the police are still investigating into his whereabouts .

Meanwhile, reports of fraud have also been reported in Kohima and Mokokchung. 

The NHB which promotes horticulture has its head quarters at Gurgaon, Haryana and have regional offices through out India with the regional office for the North East based at Guwahati. The NHB which provides subsidiary to schemes gives 20% of the total project cost subsidiary to projects which are less than Rs.10,00,000 by the regional office.
