RTI info sought from Transport deptt

Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): The Public Information Officer of the Transportation Commissioner of Nagaland, Kohima, is asked to furnish details concerning specific laws and standing government order over fees charged from owners of vehicles for assignment of new registration in the State of Nagaland. 

A citizen issued a copy of an RTI application addressed to the transport department. The applicant, one Chubatangit Jamir from Mokokchung, cited relevant provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 that the road tax of a motor vehicle paid at the time of registration in one State is valid all over India till the date of expiry. Therefore, no road tax is required to be paid again by the owner of the vehicle for reassignment of registration in another State after necessary verification of tax payment by the competent authority, the application said. The department is asked to furnish details and particulars of fees and amount charged for assignment of renewed registration in the State of Nagaland by removing the registration of another State.

Likewise, the department is asked to furnish details of the Rules framed by the State government under the relevant provision of Motor Vehicles Act for assignment of new registration in the State of Nagaland by removing the registration of another State as regard to the fees and amount charged from the owner of the vehicle.

Further, details are sought about the law and standing government notification, circular or memorandum concerning the fees and amount charged from the vehicle owner for assignment of a new registration in Nagaland by removing the registration of another State.
