Sammy Hamar Phukan won the second edition of Dance Battleground 2023, held at Lorin Hall, Tetso College, Sovima on July 8.
The competition featured 12 dancers who battled for the top honour and a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
Organized by Tetso Arena (Tetso College), the competition followed a 1 vs. 1 Open Style knockout format, where solo dancers competed against each other. The dancers showcased a variety of styles including hip-hop, contemporary, breakdancing, popping, and locking, which added a diverse and dynamic element to the event.
After intense battles, Phukan from Guwahati emerged as the winner, claiming the first place. Debojit Das, also known as Xaiko from Tezpur, secured the second place and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Meanwhile, gracing the event, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) Chairman, Theja Meru impressed upon the audience on three ‘E’s - to excel in everything, to exceed beyond expectation, and to explore all possibilities.
The competition was judged by Ao Wapang, also known as Neo Gotham, and was hosted by MC Shang and Seiwang.
