Samphur Village celebrates Mongmong festival

Samphur Village celebrated Mongmong festival with Vekato, GPRN/NSCN "Commandant", Penze designated camp as the chief guest. The festival, held on September 1 at the local ground saw the participation of well wishers and villagers.  

Speaking at the gathering, the chief guest said, “each one of us has our own identity and festival like this helps us to know who we are.” Citing examples he also said, “Nagas cannot be Indian or Chinese or Burmese likewise,” and asked the gathering to preserve their identity.  

Talking in context of the present situation, the chief guest said, “Our forefathers celebrated the festival with wine and local brew and were still blessed with bountiful harvest and prosperity. But, today we are celebrating it in Christian spirit. God will surely bless the community.”  

Tizisa Cultural Club and MSS Samphur presented cultural dance while folk song was presented by VG Sanphur village and Langpi Khitong, furu Thsukhi and Luh Yuthsah were other highlight of the day. Salt making, black smiting modules were also displayed on the day.
