Saramati Sisters release new MV 'Auto Rickshaw'

Saramati Sisters released their official music video, ‘Auto Rickshaw’ this evening at their YouTube channel.

Saramati Sisters released their official music video, "Auto Rickshaw" this evening at their Youtube channel. An upbeat Nagamese rendition, the song is a witty take on the auto rickshaw drivers in the State.

Initially a four-member band, Saramati Sisters was formed in December of 2019 as a traditional folk music band. They have so far released 24 songs, which can be found on their channel. One of the band members passed away in December last. All citizens of Tuensang district and from Yimkhiung community, the now three-member band are Bahla, Hijila and Yakkhila. In their late 30s and 40s, they wish to pass on their story and traditions through their songs, holding true to their motto 'Cultural Renaissance.'

Bahla, one of the members said to this newspaper that they are quite happy to bring out something lively and fun for their 25th music video. The band has also released a music video that was shot in Mount Saramati in late 2020.

The cast in the video are Pelao Konyak, Tinglem Konyak, Wangching Konyak, Ayemla Yimchunger, Lemya and Ponwang. The song was written by Wangching Konyak, and was recorded at Audio Craft Studio, Dimapur. Music was arranged and mixed by Wangching Konyak, while videography was handled by Menang Jamir and Nahyoh Wenkhuthum, the video editor.

The band was also a guest artiste in the recent World Music Day event held on June 21 in Shamator district. All doting mothers being connected through their fondness of music, they hope to share and carry forward the oral history and folklores with their songs.
