SASRD NU holds 26th annual fresher’s social

Medziphema, April 26 (MExN): School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) Nagaland University, Medziphema campus held its 26th annual fresher social-cum-inauguration of multi-purpose hall on April 23. 

The occasion was graced by K Moses Chalai, Secretary North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region DoNER, Government of India as chief guest and M Iboyaima Meitei, Advisor (Horticulture) NEC, as guest of honour, stated a press release here.

Formally inaugurating the multi-purpose hall, Chalai noted the younger generation is privileged to be born in an age where technology is constantly evolving and changing and urged the students to take maximum advantage of it. 

He also emphasised on the importance of Industry 4.0 and urged the students to familiarise themselves with robotics, AI, 3-D printing and so on. 

The NEC Secretary also shared about his dream is to have a 3-D printing facility in the North-East. 

Also speaking on the occasion, Iboyaima opined that those involved in framing policies and governance must ensure that the right facilities and opportunities are presented to the students. He urged the parents to encourage and motivate the students.

Dr Abemo, Registrar, NU, in his address expressed gratitude for NEC’s support in providing the multi-purpose hall to SASRD, NU and urged all to take care of the facility and hoped that the council  would continue to support the University. 

The fresher social programme was chaired by Prof Akali Sema, Dean SASRD while Shekhozo Vero, President, student union, SASRD gave the welcome address.

Prof M Aleminla Ao, Pro Vice Chancellor SASRD also exhorted the gathering while Mhashekholü Thelo-üo, Namgyal Wangchul and Chingangbam Karuna Chanu gave speeches on behalf of the BSc, MSc and PhD 1st Years respectively. Pratik Swain and Rajeshree Kundu were adjudged the Mr and Ms Fresher 2022.
