The outgoing executive members (2019-21) of the Southern Angami Students' Union (SASU) on June 27 visited the Eden Garden Children's Home, Khuzama Village and donated ration and food items and interacted with administrators and children.
Fr. Rajesh Lobo, Director during an interaction said that the current strength of the home was 263 including 139 boys and 124 girls.
Describing it as "more of a home" run by the strength of benefactors, the director said that the home caters to needy children who have been orphaned, children of single parents, from economically underprivileged or remote villages coming from various quarters of villages, interior areas or neighbouring states.
The home has its roots in the year 1975 when Fr. Stany Ceolho with a view to help the underprivileged children, started the home with 5 children. Fr. Raymond D’ Souza became the successor in 1990.
Supporting children in education upto matriculation, the home continuous to extend help in acquiring higher education while also focusing on the education of girl children.
The SASU executives further appealed individuals, organizations and NGOs to come forward and donate freewill.
