We cannot ignore the contribution made by our predecessors in the struggle against the India’s Imperialism, nor can we jeopardize the future of the Naga people for our present day of gratification and parochial interest. We will be held accountable and will be crying over the spilled milk if we do not take a wise decision now.
History of different countries in the world have ample example to show us why a movement failed and why the movement succeeded. Anywhere in the history of national struggle against imperialism there are always oppositions. These oppositions are from the imperial power or agencies of the imperialism in disguise of fake nationalism or anti-nationalism. And within the anti-imperialist parties there are disagreements due to various reasons like ideological differences, differences in strategy, leadership struggle, egoism and so on. These factors for disagreement within the parties become opposing forces to the progress of national movement when parochial interest takes priority over national interest. But a movement or a struggle which achieved is goals are such movement which does not compromise to the basic principle it stood for. Nagas need re-examining and reinvigorating their main aims and objectives which is the thriving force for the Nagas struggle for more than half a century. Right for self determination of the Naga people and living as one nation is the main aims and objectives. This forms the basic principle of the Nagas struggle which can be dated back to 14 August 1947 when the Nagas declared their independence as one nation.
How serious are the Naga people and specially the torch bearer of the Naga national movement truly upholding the spirit of the principle in words and deeds.
Our history is unique, but the ways and means toward attaining our goals cannot be unique, for there is only one way, that is a righteous struggle against alien power. Nagas struggle cannot be righteous if nepotism, corruption and favouritism enter in the working of revolutionary government. It becomes similar with the imperialist government. Therefore they themselves kill the aspiration of the followers and lose support of the people.
However worse is when revolutionary parties forsakes its principle and compromise their national in aims and objectives for petty internal issues? Once a revolutionary army loses its national aims and objectives then naturally it become self oriented and equates with bandit or robbers or mercenary.
Today we see that the failure to comprehend the values of Nagas demand for self determination and right to lived as one nation have led to estrangement to Nagas march toward achieving it’s goals. The movement against the affiliation to NBSE is something very shocking to be expected from certain Nagas. Should be believed it is from the Nagas or enemies who are against the Nagas living as one.
Justifying the non-supporting to affiliation to NBSE on the account of job guarantee and scopes for future students from Nagaland state tarnishes the image of the organization claiming to be fighting for one Naga nation. Let us think positively and from various dimensions. Let our mind not be obsessed with Indian government limited job offer depending upon their carrot and stick policy, rather then the need of the people. Let us stick to our goal of creating of our own nation which we provide much more avenues for all Nagas.
The affiliation to NBSE does not guarantee job security and therefore there should be a hectic over this issue. Take the example of Singapore, Korea, Luxembourg and etc, they are no bigger than Nagalim yet, see how the countries are performing.
Factional or parties conflict should not hamper the Nagas progress toward reaching its goals. The aspiration of the people cannot be in the custody of any party or organizations, but with the conviction of the people.
Today Nagas are undergoing most degrading period in Nagas history where one particular tribe is made scapegoat. The killings of innocent people of a particular tribe have never taken place in the past period. The fear that is generated among the innocent civilian is worse than that was experienced under the alien armed forces. This will go down in the history of national struggle as the most regretful incident. This action question us to what forces is the freedom fighters fighting at?
Forgetting their priorities and master minding tribalism among the Nagas by threat and killings is very painful for any reasonable Naga to bear. Though for self interested persons who do not treasure dearly the aspirations and objective of Nagas, it became their means to achieve their selfish goal.
History will hold them accountable for destructing of what our predecessors have contributed and also sabotaging the future political solution of the Nagas for their own interest. It is therefore a right time to take a wise decision.
God bless Nagalim.
