The Sekrüzu Area Welfare Union Kohima (SAWUK) celebrated the premier festival of Chakhesang- Sükrünye at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima on January 14.

Extending greetings on the occasion as the special guest, Zachilhü Vadeo, Ex Minister Nagaland said; for many generations, our forefathers had celebrated Sükrünye with blessings from God while they led unity and peaceful life. He said the festival is a time of purification and sanctification. With the celebration of the festival, he wishes the people of Sekrüzu area to develop better understanding and march forward.

The occasion also witnessed short speech from Besüpra Swüro, Mulhükhwü Nyekha and Yephüzü Swüro. The programme witnessed indigeneous games, folk song and Sükrünye feast.

The programme was led by S John Keyho, Chairman SAWUK while Razukhrü Vasa invoked God's blessing.  Folk song was presented by Thürütsüswümi Welfare Union Kohima and Rüzazhomi Welfare Union Kohima.

The event was compered by Küthoseü Vasa and Rasipra Sapu while the vote of thanks was delivered by Rükuvoyi Keyho, Vice Chairman, SAWUK. Jopolhü Swüro pronounced the benediction prayer.
