Sazo urges youth to climb positive ladder

Chizami | April 21 : The 7th general conference of Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) concluded here today with parliamentary secretary for social welfare and women development Chotisuh Sazo as the chief guest. In this modernization, Sazo said, the youth have to struggle hard to climb a positive ladder so as to move towards brighter side.
He was appreciative of CYF for its efforts towards conservation of biodiversity by banning hunting within its jurisdiction and at the same time he called for initiating reserved area in every village so as to preserve the rich fauna and flora.
He stated that Lozaphuhu village has recorded 50 species of birds, 150 different species of trees and even peacock and white deer still there at its reserved area and termed it as a good sign.
Touching on culture and tradition, he admitted that the cultural dress is rich enough and also expressed happiness over the improvement of cultural dances and songs. He, however lamented the good moral values and traditional practices of forefathers are diminishing. In this, he called upon the youth revive the same and adopt the work culture.
Referring to the conference theme “Guest for the best,” he called for better understanding, unity and hard work among the youth so as to move forward along with the rest of the world.
He also asked the CYF to maintain neutrality and continue to work of the welfare and upliftment of the society.
He also called upon them to maintain the integrity of Chakhesangs. Touching on availability of abundant natural resources in the state, he stressed on the need to make the best use for boosting economy since there is no major industry worth it name in Nagaland as of now except some few small scale industry units.
He quoted one of scientists as saying “North East region has the richest natural resources but the poorest region in the country.”
Referring to the imposition of ban on import of pork from outside by Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), he stated that poultry and piggery has been picked up to a large in the aftermath of such imposition but self sufficiency is yet to be attained.
Also stating that he does not mean to say that paddy cultivation is not bad at all where the Chakhesangs give much importance on it, he however said a time a time has come for the people to change their approach and identify what could be better ground for them to venture into different activities to boost the economy.
A perspective plan for any project is essential today; he said and further advocated that the youth can do it.
Earlier, CPO president Sovenyi, NPF secretary general Kewezu G. Kenye, Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president Khrielievi Chüsi also spoke on the occasion while CYF president Mudovoyo Vero delivered presidential address.
Rev. Vezopa Tetseo, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council said act of blessing for the new team of CYF led by Zhopayi Nakro as new president. The function was chaired by Kekhwengulo Lea while resolution adopted at the conference was read out by Neichüte Douloh. Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu also present on the occasion.
