SBI Gram Seva launched in five villages under Chümoukedima

Dimapur, October 3 (MExN): The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), the development wing of Salesians of Don Bosco, Dimapur Province launched SBI Gram Seva project in five villages namely Ura, Bade, Diezephe, Khrizephe and Tsithrongse under Chümoukedima sub-division, Dimapur. 

The programme was launched on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in the presence of Thejavizo Nakhro, SDO of Chümoukedima Sub-Division, Abhinash Hembrom, AGM of SBI Regional Office, and other dignitaries.

Rev Thejagulüe, pastor of CRC, Diezephe said the invocation followed by lighting of the lamp. Rev Fr TT Joseph, Mission Procurator of the Province of Dimapur and Associate Director of AIDA, welcomed the dignitaries and representatives from the five adopted villages. 

According to a press release received here, SBI Gram Seva is an initiative of SBI Foundation started in 2015. SBI Foundation has adopted 25 villages from five States of India for Rural Development. The beneficiaries of this program are the states of Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Telangana and Karnataka.  

SBI Gram Seva will be strategically implemented by AIDA Don Bosco in Nagaland for 3 years from 2020 to 2023. It is a convergence program of various stakeholders like SBI Foundation and AIDA which will be closely working with Gram Panchayat. 

Pfokho John, Project Manager, AIDA, highlighted the works of AIDA and the major programs of SBI Gram Seva. Virtual addresses by SBI Foundation and Senior Officials from SBI Local Head Offices was the highlight of the programme. 

The chief guest, Thejavizo Nakhro, SDO of Chümoukedima Sub-Division in the keynote address stressed the importance of the integrated rural development approach in the social economic development of any society. 

“The future of India lies in its villages,” the speaker said quoting Mahatma Gandhi. He exhorted the representatives of the adopted villages to collaborate and cooperate with AIDA in implementing the program. As part of convergence programme, the SDO also assured to give handholding support from the Government to make model villages in the long run of the Gram Seva Program and also to the implementing agency AIDA. 

Abhinash Hembrom, AGM, SBI Nagaland, representing the SBI Foundation expressed the hopeful journey of SBI in changing rural lives beyond banking and also assured SBI support in the initiatives. 

Athone Khuso proposed the vote of thanks. Rev Fr Peter Pithungo, Asst Parish Priest of St Joseph Catholic Church Chümoukedima gave the final blessing. Later, Thejavizo planted a sapling to mark the occasion.
