Kiphire, April 19 (MExN): An awareness programme on mental health under the SBI Sanjeevani Clinic on Wheels initiative, supported by SBI Foundation, was held at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Pungro Centre, Type 1, Pungro Town on April 18, officials said.
The programme was chaired by a staff nurse. In his welcome address, T. Kirithong Sangtam, secretary of the implementing agency, expressed gratitude to the SBI Foundation team for organising the awareness programme and medical camp. He said such initiatives are crucial, particularly as seasonal illnesses are common among students, and appreciated the team’s continued outreach to villages in Kiphire district.
Students of KGBV presented a special programme during the event.
Addressing the session, a medical officer from Nature SBIF Kiphire said health is not merely the absence of disease but a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being. He noted that poor mental health is among the leading causes of death among young people and stressed the importance of balancing physical, social and mental health.
In his closing remarks, Longtili C, project lead of Nature SBIF Nagaland, thanked the staff and students for their participation. He said the event marked the 11th awareness programme conducted under the project so far. He added that the team has also carried out four sanitation drives and three specialist health camps in Kiphire.
Despite challenges in remote areas, the team remains committed to ensuring last-mile healthcare services in the district, he said.
The programme concluded with a call for continued awareness and community health efforts.
