School children avails free spectacles

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The medical department Tuensang distributed free spectacles to school children under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) on April 13 at Noklak.
Speaking to students and teachers at Government Higher Secondary School Noklak, Deputy CMO Tuensang, Dr. Thanghoi asserted that poor eyesight can often be a cause of problems in studies with school children and as a result regular eye check-ups are imperative for school children. He also stressed on the ongoing assessment camp by the Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) under SSA with the medical department for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) and requested cooperation from the teachers in making health a priority.
Giving a brief talk, ophthalmic assistant from District Hospital Tuensang Likok Sangtam advised the students on the dos and don’ts of maintaining spectacles and eyesight. Altogether 21 students were distributed free spectacles. School students under Shamator and Longkhim block would also be distributed free spectacles.
