School children avails free spectacles

Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The medical department Tuensang distributed free spectacles to school children under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) on May 31 at Shamator and June 2 in Longkhim respectively.
A press note said that in Shamator, 22 students from Government High School Shamator, Sangkor Middle School Shamator and Government Primary School (GPS) Station B were distributed free spectacles.
The medical team in Shamator was led by Deputy CMO Tuensang Dr. Thanghoi Laam and assisted by Medical Officer Shamator Dr. Sinha and Ophthalmic Assistant Shamator Thsingthruhba.
Meanwhile, in Longkhim, school students of Government High School, Longkhim were given free spectacles on June 2 by ophthalmic assistant from District Hospital Tuensang Likok Sangtam. Altogether 48 students were distributed spectacles besides talk on eye care for students from Classes 7 to 10. The Headmaster of the school Chumlongse Sangtam expressed gratitude to the department and the NPCB for carrying out such programme for children. Earlier, the screening for the school children was undertaken by the ophthalmic assistant Shamator for all three blocks including Shamator, Longkhim and Noklak.
