School in Kohima gets training on disaster management

Disaster management and awareness training being conducted at Christ King Higher Secondary School Kohima on Monday
 
DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): A training programme on disaster management and awareness was conducted at Christ King Higher Secondary by the Nagaland Disaster Management Authority (Home Department) in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 1st Bn, Guwahati. Students and teachers were educated and trained on basic first aid. Demonstrations were also given by the NDRF team on first aid for road accidents and such other disasters. About 300 students attended the training and awareness camp.
Earlier the programme began with a short introduction on disaster awareness by Assistant Commandant Anil Shekhawat. Under Secretary Mrs. Sara S. Jamir also spoke on the occasion and had a lively interaction with the students. State Project Officer Johnny Raungmei also gave a short speech where he introduced the students to the basic concept of earthquakes and the vulnerability of Nagaland being in the 5th Seismic zone. This training and awareness programme will be continued in Little Flower Higher Secondary tomorrow. Civil Defense and Home Guards will also join the NDRF tomorrow to impart training to members of the Red Cross Kohima district.
