Schools cautioned against selling text books above printed price

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 23 (MExN): The School Education Department has cautioned all schools not to sell text books at a price higher than the printed price of the textbooks by affixing stickers. “All concerned have been cautioned not to indulge in such unethical practices,” a notice from the department stated.

“Further, if a school makes available books, stationery, and uniform items for sale on the school premises then the sale of these items must be done without any coercion on the students/parents to buy the same from these shops. The school shall not coerce parents/students for buying the said books and items from any other specified vendors also,” the department directed.

It said that appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against School Heads/Management violating the above directives.  The DEOs/Sr. SDEOs/SDEOs have also been directed to pay random surprise visits to schools under their jurisdiction and ensure strict compliance with the aforesaid directives.
