Shamator, November 4 (MExN): The Shamator District Volleyball Association (SDVA) and the Late Showuba Family have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to sponsor the annual Shamator District Volleyball Tournament beginning 2026.

The MoU, signed on November 3, marks the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at promoting sports and nurturing young talent in Shamator district, the SDVA said in a statement.
As per the MoU, the Late Showuba Family will sponsor the prize money, a one-time championship trophy, and citations for the winners. The sponsorship will cover the first three editions of the tournament.

Speaking at the signing programme, SDVA President K Yaksokiu Yimchunger expressed gratitude to the family for their gesture, terming it “a landmark step in strengthening the foundation of sports in our district.”

“This partnership is not only a sponsorship but a legacy of encouragement and faith in our youth. The Late Showuba Family’s gesture will inspire many to give back to the community,” he added.

Representing the family, Yanba, son of Late Showuba, shared that the initiative is a tribute to their late father’s enduring love for community welfare and youth development.

“Our father believed in unity, hard work, and the spirit of sportsmanship. Through this contribution, we hope to carry forward his values and support the next generation of athletes,” he added.

The signing ceremony, held at the SDVA Treasurer’s residence, was witnessed by representatives from both parties, Pastors of STBC, NAPBC and SoilBC, community elders, youth leaders, and sports enthusiasts.

This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to fostering community spirit, sports excellence, and positive youth engagement through volleyball, the SDVA added.
