Season 2 Kohima Premier League 2026 grand final today

The Season 2 Kohima Premier League (KPL) under the aegis of the Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) entered third day today at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima.

The first match was played between Central Hurricanes and Oking Outlaws.

After winning the toss, Oking Outlaws managed to restrict the Hurricanes to 117/7, with Veri leading the bowling attack with 2 wickets in his pocket supported by Amhalie, Thupuluzo, Keneilhouzo and Suneper with 1 wicket each.

Temsulong top scored for the Hurricanes with 24 runs, while Kelhousilie scored 19 runs. In the run chase, despite the tight bowling of the Hurricanes, the Oking Outlaws made quick work of the target, chasing 118 in 16 overs losing only 3 wickets. Suneper of the Outlaws scored a scintillating 55 off 44 balls, while Epha scored 39 off 32. Vizoletuo of the Hurricanes claimed 2 wickets in 4 overs giving away 28 runs.

Suneper of Oking Outlaws was declared man of the match.

In the second match, played between Capital Sixers and Ura Mavericks, Ura Mavericks were put in to bat first after losing the toss. Despite a fiery start by their top order batsmen, disciplined bowling by the Capital Sixers led by Keviselhou 3/16 and Jenithung 2/35, managed to restrict the Mavericks to 131 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Tapitu and Samuel Sumi were top scorer for the Mavericks scoring 28 runs and 27 runs respectively.

In the run chase, a brilliant batting display by Imomenba 71 not out and Dziesevotuo John 50 not out, made way for the Capital Sixers to reach the finals as they chased down the target in 13.3 overs. Despite Tapitu of Ura Mavericks taking 2 early wickets, the match was cut short. Imomenba was declared “Man of the Match” for this brilliant 71 not out.
