Season 2 Kohima Premier League kicks off

The Season 2 Kohima Premier League (KPL) under the aegis of the Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) kicked off today at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chumoukedima.

In the first match played between Ura Mavericks and Oking Outlaws, Mavericks kicked off a powerful innings with Imkumlong  leading the charge scoring 35 runs off 25 balls, while being supported by captain Moasosang and Zidu scoring 31 runs each.

They ended setting up the target at 158/5 for the opposing team.

Kevilelie and Thupuluzo of Oking  Outlaws settled for 2 wickets each.

In the run chase by the Oking Outlaws, Seyievizo top scored with an unbeaten 98 in 58 balls, while Epha supported him from the other end also with an unbeaten 45 in 38 balls, chasing the target in 19 overs to win the match.

Ruduovotso and Mhajan took a wicket each for Mavericks.

Oking Outlaws won the match by 8 wickets.

In the second match, Central Hurricanes after winning the toss opted to bat first managed to score 135 runs having lost all wickets in 18.4 overs.

Kenendi occupied top scorer with an unbeaten 35 runs off 26 balls, while Viketho scored 28 runs off 17 balls.

Keviselhou Sekhose of Capital Sixers completed his five wicket haul during his spell giving away only 19 runs in his 4 over quota.

In the run chase, despite a brilliant batting display by Peter scoring 52 not out and Imomenba with 37 runs, the disciplined bowling attack of the central hurricanes led by Vizoletuo 2/36, Teiso, Henry, Vitoshe and Kelhousilie, made way for the Hurricanes to overcome the Sixers with a margin of 8 runs.

Keviselhou of Capital Sixers was named Man of the Match for his outstanding 5/19 and received award from Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary, Nagaland Cricket Association.
The Season 2 KPL will continue till February 22.
