Sechü Zubza FC today lifted the coveted champion title of 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2024 (Lt. Kekuojalie Sechü and Lt Vikhozo Yhoshü) organised by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
In a exciting final match, Sechü Zubza FC downed Asufü Football Academy 2-1 to emerge the champion title.
Thejasetuo Gwire opened the account for Sechü Zubza FC in the early 4th minute while Khiuwangbo Kaurinta netted the second goal in the 19th minute.
Sechü Zubza FC took the lead 2-0 till the first half.
Suzülo Mao netted a lone goal for Asufü Football Academy in the 58th minute.
Sechü Zubza FC fetched a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh along with trophy.
Runner-up Asufii Football Academy received Rs. 1.80 lakh.
Losing semi finalists Asufii Christian Institute and Circle FC Chedema awarded with Rs 40,000 each. Losing quarter finalists Red Scars FC, Tangkhul KS, F4CA and Michazou FC received Rs 25,000 each.
Atlanson Kharmaw of Sechü Zubza FC bagged Player of the tournament and awarded with Rs. 50,000.
All the individual winners also received Rs. 10,000 each.
The prizes was handed over by Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome advisor, School Education & SCERT, MLA Achumbemo Kikon, Government of Nagaland, MLA L Dikho, Government of Manipur, Medo Yhokha Ex MLA, Medovi Rhi, president Naga Students’ Federation, Neiketuno Sechü, Miss Grand India Nagaland 2024 (Miss Popular), Miss Nagaland 2023, Miss Chümoukedima 2023 and Vizokho Zashümo, organising committee convenor 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2024.
Earlier, Nagaland Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye graced the grand finale as the special guest. Lenen Jamir, Ketou Zuyie and Ulikhrei folk Group performed at the programme.
The programme was chaired by ASU general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso with Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü and Neidilhoutuo Sechü as compere.
Mentionably, 43 teams (34 from Nagaland and 9 from Manipur) joined this 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2024.
The Trophy is organised in honour and in remembrance of the two comrades Lt. Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima Village and Lt. Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema Village, who were victims to the indiscriminate firings of the Armed Police from Alichen, when the students’ fraternity, on the 20th of March 1986, were on a peaceful duty call to the extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 KM along the Indo Myanmar Border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadres into the state of Nagaland.
