KOHIMA, JULY 28 (DIPR): NEC, Secretary L.V. Lalringa today continued his visits to various centrally funded development projects around Kohima.
The Secretary began his visit with Bethel Medical Center and proceeded to the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex and Tsiesema to view the ‘3D’ Land Topo-Mapping model.
From Tsiesema, a visit was made to a vintage point at Chiechama village to have a bird’s eye-view of ‘Chiethu’ mount-ridge, which is the site selected for the Airport. At Chiechama, the NEC Secretary addressed a public gathering. He called his visit a good experience and said that all the projects that he visited had been well planned with foresight and hoped that the planning would be matched with the same level of implementation. An on the site of the airport, he opined that among all the proposed airports in the hilly stations of the North East, the site at ‘Chiethu’ is apparently the most feasible and expressed that the beautiful hill would, in a few years time, be a beautiful airport under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and that towards that reality, the NEC would play its role, he assured
He then went to Tuophema Tourist Village where a cultural programme was organized in his honour. He made another angle-view of the Chiethu from Tuophema besides paying a visit to the Traditional Museum. On the way back he stopped over at Government High School, Kohima, Naga Hospital and the Para-Medical Training Institute. Later in the evening the Secretary NEC will have detailed discussions on the progress of the projects.
The NEC Secretary incidentally is no stranger to Nagaland. He was a teacher at the Government High School in 1968-69, for which befittingly the present teachers and past pupils received him with warmth. He reciprocated with the most cherished assurance to help in improving the school. He instructed the school to prepare a project report on its requirements and submit it to NEC.
The NEC Secretary was happy over the progress and implementation standards. He termed the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex as a ‘very good overall structure’ and assured to consider funding the construction of over-head covers for the galleries on both sides of the rostrum.
During his entire tour of the day he was accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Lalhuma, Principal Secretary & APC, Alemtemshi Jamir, Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing, Mathung Kithan, Special Secretary to CM and Secretary IPR, Viketol Sakhrie, Secretary, Transport, Achum Ngully, Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, K.T. Sukhalu, Director, YRS, Bendang Longchari with his officers, Chief Engineer, Works & Housing, Vikuotuolie, Additional Secretary Transport, Yangulie Sanchu, Joint Director, Tourism, Yanponthung Kikon and his officials, Deputy Director, IPR, Dominic Yazokie and his officials. Besides these, the ADC, Chiephobozou and officials also joined the entourage.
The Secretary, Soil & Water Conservation along with his Director, Joint Director and officials were on site at Tsiesema village. The Secretary NEC is accompanied by two key officials in the NEC from Shillong.
