Seminar and sensitization of adolescent girls clubs

Wokha, December 11 (MExN): The District Administration Wokha organized a seminar and sensitization of girls clubs in Wokha district under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao on December 8 at Youth Centre Don Bosco Higher Secondary school.  

Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS emphasized on the importance of having adolescent girls club and urged those who have not enrolled themselves in the club to join as it is very beneficial for them. The DC also noted that under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme Adolescent clubs will be formed in all blocks and some clubs have already formed in some schools in the town.  

He encouraged them to join the club because basic life skill and other job orientated trainings are given and more of such trainings programmes are in the pipeline. The purpose of forming such clubs and imparting trainings is to encourage the girl child to make them responsible individuals and they can earn their own livelihood and become a successful and productive member in the society in future.  

Short speeches were delivered by Dr Abeni Kikon, D Nounenuo Terhase, Sub- Inspector Onen Pongen, Assistant Manager SBI, Zuchobeni Ovung, SDO (C) Lanusenla Longkumer.  

The function was chaired by EAC, Chukitong, Imliakum Sanglir, Father T T Joseph, Principle DBHSS invoked God's blessing while vote of thanks was delivered by Sr Supervisor, CDPO Office, Wokha Erenbenbi Kikon.  

Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS launched the Clean Wokha campaign.
