Seminar on energy conservation held

Kohima | November 23 : A seminar on energy conservation was held today at Hotel CIMORB, Kohima with commissioner & secretary Power, K.Kire as the chief guest. The seminar was organized by Nagaland state designated Agency in collaboration with petroleum conservation research association (PCRA), under the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, Kire said India is emerging as global economic power and with its growth, we should have power security. Kire asserted that the demand for power is very high and imperative and therefore there is a need to see that consumption of power is used away sustainability. While congratulating the organizers for initiating the programme, creating more awareness on conservation of power he also urged the department to create awareness, the need of energy, efficient, usage and conservation.
Also, Kire appealed the organizers to conduct awareness to the stakeholders and also not to confine only in Kohima and Dimapur but also to reach out to the other districts. He opined that there should be zero tolerance for erring defaulters as government is spending almost 11% of the state fund on purchasing power which can be used for other developmental activities.
Mohanta, Joint Director, PCRA ER and K.L Bhutia, deputy director, PCRA were the resource persons at the seminar. Engineers from different department, Hotel proprietors and students from geology department Nagaland University attended the seminar. Earlier the programme was chaired by Er. K.T Wapang Ao, Chief Electrical Inspector, Nagaland State Designated Agency.
