Sovima, April 25 (MExN): Zunheboto and Longleng respectively won their matches in the qualifying rounds of the ongoing Men's Senior Inter-District Tournament 2024 organised by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) on Thursday.
In the low-scoring first match of the day at Sovima Cricket Ground, Longleng secured a resounding 9-wicket victory over Phek. Batting first, Phek's innings folded with just 94 runs on the board in 31.4 overs. Longleng comfortably chased down the target, reaching 97/1 in just 10.5 overs.
Longleng's Rajesh Das was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for his 51 runs and taking one wicket for four runs. With this win, Longleng has secured two consecutive wins in the tournament, while it is two straight defeats for Phek.
Meanwhile, in the second match, Zunheboto defeated Kiphire with a convincing margin of 97 runs to register their first win of the tournament.
Player of the Match Hauto set the tone of the match with an impressive 91 runs off 81 balls, taking Zunheboto to a defendable total of 207/10 in 39.5 overs. In reply, Kiphire could manage only 110 runs in 28.5 overs and lost the match by 97 runs.
The tournament, which began on April 23, will conclude on May 7.
