Sovima, November 5 (MExN): The Central Zone registered a convincing 40-run victory over East Zone in the ongoing Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy held at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on November 3.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, East Zone restricted Central Zone’s early scoring, but a composed top-order effort ensured stability. Disha Kasat led the innings with a well-crafted 49 off 42 deliveries, guiding Central Zone to a competitive total of 148 for 5 in 20 overs.
In reply, East Zone’s chase faltered following early breakthroughs from Central Zone’s bowlers. Despite brief resistance from Priyanka Luthra (23 off 26) and Jintimani Kalita (22 off 12), the middle order struggled to build momentum, and the team was eventually bowled out for 108.
Vaishnavi Sharma starred with the ball, delivering an exceptional spell of 4 for 20 in 3.5 overs, while Simran Dil Bahadur provided solid support with 2 for 11 in three overs.
Sharma’s match-winning performance earned her the Player of the Match award.
Central Zone will face South Zone next at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium on November 6 at 4:30 PM.
East Zone will take on North East Zone at the same venue on Thursday at 11 AM.
