Sovima, November 9 (MExN): West Zone clinched a narrow 4-run win over South Zone in a thrilling Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy encounter at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima on November 8.
Opting to bat first, West Zone posted 146/6 in 20 overs, with T S Hasabnis top-scoring with 50 off 41 balls and K P Navgire contributing 37 off 25. For South Zone, C Prathyusha (2/22) and Asha S (2/25) were the most successful bowlers.
In reply, South Zone managed 142/7 in 20 overs. G Kamalini (35 off 29), S Meghana (34 off 26) and Niki Prasad (32 off 27) kept the chase alive, taking the match into the final over. However, a decisive spell from Humairaa Kaazi, who took 2 wickets for just 1 run in her lone over, helped West Zone hold their nerve at the end.
Kaazi was named Player of the Match.
