Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): Green Foundation Wokha has expressed shock and surprise over the September 1 incident, where some group of rogue elements forcefully entered the compound of a government servant and verbally threatened and abused the spouse of the officer in charge of Nagaland Zoological Park at Dimapur.
The foundation in a press note issued by its Director, N Janbemo Humtsoe and General Secretary Z Hayibemo Ezung expressed sympathy to the concerned officer and his families for the unfortunate incident and urged the law enforcing authorities to reign over the perpetrators and award appropriate penalties as per the law of the land. The foundation is of the view that if any individual or party has any grievances against any person(s) or authority, they can settle their issues in a democratic manner by approaching the right authority and not otherwise.
While expressing dismay over the alarming incidences of illegal public encroachment over common property resources like reserved forests, wild life sanctuaries, public parks, government properties and even village community lands by some vested and greedy individuals, the Foundation urges all right thinking citizens of the state to refrain from such unhealthy practices and remain vigilant to preserve and protect common property resources for common good.
While feting the department of forests and environment for efficiently discharging their duties for the conservation of flora and fauna and for their steadfast efforts to resolve conflicts between human and the environment, the Foundation fervently appeal to the concerned department to strictly implement all available environmental laws against any lawbreakers. They also requested the state government and the concerned department to maintain proper territorial demarcation and, if possible, construct parameter fencing of all common property resources and also equipped the forest officers in the line of duty with proper arms and ammunition to thwart off illegal encroachers and poachers.
Midland Colony
Midland Colony GBs and council has strongly condemned the “insane and inhumane action” perpetrated on wife a Forest Range Officer, Obed Bhovovi Swu by “a group of local women” on September 1.
“Physically assaulting an officers wife just because her husband was discharging his lawful duty is noting but an act of barbarism and animalism by a group of people who are not fit to live in a civilized society,” the council stated in a press note issued by GB, Midland Colony Yodi Pucho and head GB Khehuto Zhimomi.
The note also said that forcefully intruding into somebody’s house and assaulting the occupants/owners without any reason or rhyme is an insult to the authority of the colony.
All right thinking citizens of the society should come out in one voice to condemn the incident and also, law enforcing agency should take measures to take action against the wrong doers.
