Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): Students of School of Engineering, Technology and Management (SETAM) of Nagaland University have served to the university till August 28 to fulfill the students’ demands. The Students’ Council of SETAM issued a note today warning that the university failing to meet their demands would attract more agitation and the ‘university would be held responsible’ for any untoward incidents.
“If the university fails the students this time, the students have decided to march to the headquarter for protest and all the administration section will be forced to shut down as there is no option left for the students,” the note from the SSETAM leaders stated.
The students of SETAM have been agitating for almost three weeks but the university is still yet to respond, the students said. “The negligence of the university regarding the demands clearly shows their nature, their way of serving the purpose of the students. The university clearly knows the sufferings of the students out here and they are acting as if everything is alright,” the SETAM students’ council said.
The Post Graduate Students’ Union of SETAM has also extended its support to the SETAM Students’ Council. A note from the union demanded immediate appointment of a permanent administrative in-charge. The union said the authorities should consider the demands of the SETAM students seriously and collectively solve the issues at the earliest.
“The SETAM as a whole is facing lots of problems because there is no dean or administrative in-charge to take important decisions. The administrative in-charge is the need of the hour,” the union said. The union has requested the authorities to appoint an administrative in-charge immediately.
