Shamator | November 15
The Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Shamator District Amateur Boxing Association, will conduct an open boxing talent hunt for boys and girls under 14 years on November 21 at the Shamator local ground.
Officials said the preferred age range for participants is between 8 and 13 years. Interested candidates have been advised to enrol by November 20.
Selected athletes will receive an opportunity to train at the Indira Gandhi Academy, Kohima, for the 2026-27 period, marking what organizers describe as a significant platform for young boxing hopefuls in the district.
“This is the first time such a program is being held for boxing enthusiasts in Shamator district,” said state coach K K Nagi of the Boxing Federation of India’s Disciplinary Disputes Commission. “Opportunities like this may not come often, so make use of it when it knocks.”
Shamator District Amateur Boxing Association president Rikhum Yimchunger said the association is looking forward to positive participation from youngsters. For more information, organizers can be contacted at 9862813056 or at the printing press near CHC Shamator, 7005275916.
