The Community Hall of the Chathe Valley Land Owners Union (CVLOU) under Tsüüma village jurisdiction in Medziphema Block was inaugurated by Roko Angami, OSD, Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland on May 16.
Addressing the gathering, Roko said that a Community Hall is far more than merely bricks, mortar, and a roof. “It is the very heart of our collective spirit and unity. It is a place where people come together to celebrate, to deliberate, to resolve challenges, and to support one another in times of need,” Roko said adding that the community hall has been built with the purpose of strengthening “our bonds and fostering a deeper sense of togetherness.”
Stating that the structure is not simply a building, he said, “It is a symbol of our shared aspirations and a foundation for our community's future.”
Within these walls, our youth will learn and grow, our elders will share their wisdom and stories, our traditions and values will continue to flourish, and, most importantly, it will serve as a welcoming space where people can connect with one another in an increasingly busy world, he said.
“It is contrary to our customs and traditions to prevent someone from settling down after they have lawfully purchased land with the intention to establish and develop their livelihood. Such actions go against the values of humanity, fairness, and the long-standing traditions and principles upheld by our forefathers,” Roko said.
He thanked everyone who contributed towards making this Community Hall a reality. “This hall stands as a remarkable testament to what can be achieved when a community works together with unity, determination, and a common vision” he said.
However, he said, “while today marks the completion of this structure, the true responsibility of bringing it to life now rests upon each one of us.”
Roko encouraged everyone to make meaningful use of this space, “to care for it as your own, and to fill it with warmth, harmony, laughter, and the vibrant spirit that defines our community.”
“Let us ensure that this hall remains a source of service and pride for generations to come,” he said.
May this inauguration mark the beginning of a new and promising chapter for our community one filled with unity, cooperation, peace, progress, and prosperity, he added.
Further, Roko wish to see that “this Community Hall bring lasting peace, prosperity, happiness, and endless opportunities to all our people.”
