Sharp Shooters win Open Penalty Shootout at Tseminyu

Tseminyu, February 13 (MExN): A one-day Open Penalty Shootout was held at Riga’s Astro Turf, New Terogvunyu, in Tseminyu district on February 13.

The event was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat Tseminyu under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYS) in collaboration with the Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering & Education (NAAME), the implementing FNGO under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), and the Terogvunyu Youth Organization (TYO).

The programme was flagged off by Yhuntilo Kent, Range Forest Officer (RFO) and FMU Head of Tseminyu, in the presence of officials from the Divisional Management Unit (DMU), Kohima.

Addressing the gathering at the commencement of the event, Akho Phira, Team Leader, FNGO NAAME, highlighted the objectives of the convergence programme. He emphasised the project’s efforts towards forest and environmental protection, rejuvenation and enhancement, along with special investment in augmenting Self-Help Groups’ income generation activities (IGAs) through financial assistance under the NFMP.

He stated that the event also aimed at engaging youth creatively, nurturing athletic talent while promoting awareness on environmental protection.

In the competition, Sharp Shooters emerged champions and were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while Super V FC finished runners-up and received Rs 10,000.
