Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Vigilance Commission clarifies on the alleged ghost teacher from Akhoya village in Mokokchung whose authenticity as a teacher was questioned by the village’s local authorities earlier. The SIT has stated that the ghost teacher, one Yarenlemla, was placed in the category of ‘Bogus teachers’ and notice to appear for verification was issued.
The SIT issued clarifications today appreciating what it said is the “alertness” of the village authorities of Akhoya village for making a public that the ghost teacher, named as one Yarenlemla, has never served in Akhoya.
“It may be stated that initially the appointment of Smt. Yarenlemla was at GPS Akhoya as per order No. ED/EL/M/1/2004-2005 Dt. 30-03-05 and subsequently transferred to GPS Electrical Colony, Changtongya,” the SIT stated.
“The SIT had detected that she was appointed directly on temporary basis and the signature of the appointing authority was confirmed as forged. Accordingly, she was placed under Bogus/Illegal appointment category at serial number 172 under DIS Changtongya in the Final Report of the SIT submitted to the Govt. in July 2011.”
On the basis of the list certified by the District Level Verification Committee which was furnished to the SIT Vigilance by the Directorate of School Education on April 29, 2012 and subsequent order of the government on April 30, the SIT Vigilance was delegated to verify the genuineness of the educational certificates of 1095 teachers. “Accordingly, the SIT had published the names of those teachers and as pointed out, the name of Smt. Yarenlemla appeared at Sl. 332 to be verified on 09-05-12,” the SIT said.
Nonetheless, the village authorities of Akhoya are advised to clarify matters from the School Education department before going to the Press. The SIT Vigilance should not be unnecessarily dragged into such issues, which misleads the public, the SIT added.
