SJU conducts webinar on journalism in Northeast India

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, St Joseph University conducted a webinar on ‘Journalism in North East India: Prospects and Challenges’ on August 21.

Dr Nongmaithem Reena Chanu (IIS), who is currently working as News Editor in Regional News Unit, All India Radio, Agartala was invited as guest speaker, according to a press release from the university on Sunday.

As per the release, Dr Reena conducted a session where she expounded on the challenges faced by journalists as a whole and the incidences she faced while reporting on sensitive issues. Further, she weighed the responsibilities of being a journalist and moving along the line of ethics at any cost. She also highlighted the enthusiasm of journalists in the region to meet and interact with different people who are exposed to different professions, societies, statuses and have different world views. Dr Reena also enlightened the participants on the prospects of journalism and how one can get into the Indian Information Service (IIS).

The welcome address was delivered by Kekhriezhanuo Solo, vote of thanks by Ashene Latsatüomai, and moderated by Keisham Damaru, Asst. Professor, JMC, St Joseph University, the release stated.
