SJU holds workshop on advanced XRD analysis in scientific research

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Department of Physics, St Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, organised a one-day workshop on “Advanced XRD Analysis in Scientific Research” on August 20 at the University Seminar Hall. 

The workshop was led by Dr Debarun Dhar Purkayastha, an expert in the field, who delivered sessions on the principles, techniques and applications of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis in modern scientific research. He encouraged students to pursue their research aspirations and elaborated on concepts including Debye Scherrer, Williamson-Hall Plot and crystallinity determination from XRD data using Origin software.

Participants included Physics PG 1st and 3rd semester, UG 5th semester students, Chemistry PG 3rd semester students, faculty members and research scholars from both Physics and Chemistry departments, as well as students from Kohima Science College.

The programme began with an invocation prayer by Jonglio N, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, followed by a welcome address from Dr Sandeepan Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Aleminla, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, and a closing prayer by Kezia H Roy (B.Sc 5th Semester).
