Kiphire, March 27 (MExN): One-day workshop on ‘skill development of para-hydrogeologist for spring-shed management’ under the project ‘spring rejuvenation for water security in Himalaya’, funded by National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GOI was held in Loyola Hr Sec School, Kiphire on March 24.
The workshop was organized by NIT Nagaland in collaboration with the Implementing agency, GBPNIHE, Almora, Uttarakhand with an aim to train and generate some local para-hydrogeologist for spring-shed management in Kiphire district.
Resource person Dr T Tiakaba Jamir, Associate Professor, Kohima Science College emphasized on ‘water quality management and spring-shed development’ and Zumchilo T Ezung, Jr Hydrogeologist, Scientist B-CGWB shared an insight on ‘Geological factors related to spring and strategies for its recharge’.
The dynamics on hydrogeology of mountain springs was highlighted by Bovika A Sumi, Education Department, Kiphire. Abel G Achumi & Mala Pamei, Project Staff coordinated the programme under the guidance of Dr Amrit Puzari, Associate Professor and Project Investigator and Er Vaibhav E Gosavi, Scientist C and Principal Investigator, conveners of the event.
