MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 4 (MExN): Skylark CC beat A&K Cricket Fraternity to win the Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) tournament at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on March 4.
Skylark beat the tournament’s new entrants by 8 wickets to lift Mokokchung's premier cricket trophy for the second time in three years.
Asked to chase down 120 runs to win the title, Skylark CC reached the target losing only 2 wickets in just 16.3 overs.
Earlier in the day, A&K Cricket Fraternity having won the toss elected to bat first and scored 120 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nripen and Meyameren contributed 29 runs and 26 runs respectively for A&K.
Skylark bowler Temjenmeren took 2 wickets while Aloto, Vijay Rai and Sanjay took 1 wicket each. Chasing the target, Skylark got off to a flyer with the openers Vijay Rai and Santosh giving a partnership of 96 runs. Santosh made 57 not out while Vijay Rai contributed 44 runs for Skylark. Jangzapong was the only A&K bowler who accounted for both the wickets.
