Offices and others during the State Level Monitoring Committee meeting for Financial Inclusion/Micro-Finance Project held at Kohima on October 19.
Kohima, October 19 (MExN): The second State Level Monitoring Committee (SLMC) meeting for Financial Inclusion/Micro-Finance Project of Longleng and Kiphire districts was held on October 19 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima under the chairmanship of V. Sakhrie, Commissioner & Secretary, Rural Development. The meeting was held to review the progress of implementation of the project, discuss the problems and constrains in implementation and extension of the pilot project in other districts of the state. Rural Development Assistant Director K. Neibou Sekhose informed in a press release that the Committee decided that the project will also extend to six more districts namely, Tuensang, Mon, Peren, Phek, Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Peren.
It may be mentioned the initiation for micro-financing through VDB started in 2002 and Government of Nagaland signed the MoU with SBI in 2008 and NABARD in 2010 as a collaborative effort for attaining the objectives of the financial inclusion/micro financing. As per MoU signed by GoN with NABARD and SBI, loan will initially be given at the ratio of 1:1 of corpus fund and loan The contribution of Govt. of Nagaland (`1,00,000/- per VDB) and VDB share of `40,000.
