Longleng, May 27 (MExN): The Sub-Divisional Officer (Electrical), Longleng, Moichung Shembu Phom, has informed all citizens and electricity consumers of Longleng town that installation of smart meters is being carried out in the district headquarters under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a power sector digitalisation programme initiated by the Government of India.
In a circular, the official stated that in accordance with government directives, all electricity supply must be managed through a properly functioning meter.
The purpose of smart metering is to improve transparency, billing accuracy, energy management and overall efficiency of electricity services for consumers, the circular said.
It stated that the installation process is being conducted strictly through authorised agencies and officials only, and requested all consumers to extend cooperation to the installation personnel during the execution of the ongoing work.
The circular further advised the public not to spread or circulate misleading information regarding smart meters, stating that spreading unverified or false information may create unnecessary confusion and fear among the public.
For any clarification or official information, consumers have been asked to contact the office of the SDO (Electrical), Electrical Sub-Division, Longleng, or authorised ANVIL officials only.
