CHÜMOUKEDIMA, NOVEMBER 29 (MExN): At the ongoing 3rd edition of the Senior’s Masters League (SML), Chumou Veterans posted a modest total of 124 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs in Saturday’s opening match. Key batting contributions came from Abenthung Lotha, Lhoupe Koza, Alemtemsu, and Nsamyibe as they set a target for their opponents.

Nzon Cricket Club, however, chased down the target comfortably, finishing at 129 for 6 in 19 overs. Notable performances in the chase came from Alo Kez, Neingu Neikha, and Yhunshalo Kemp. Jabu Samy’s impressive bowling effort, taking four wickets, earned him the Man of the Match award.

In the second match of the day, Essa Warriors posted a competitive total of 139 for 7 in 20 overs, powered by steady contributions from Pankaj, Raza Baruah, and Michael, who kept the scoreboard ticking throughout the innings.

Chasing the target, Kohima Old Boys struggled to build momentum and were all out for 100 runs, falling short of the target. Talikaba Pongen’s resilient batting was a lone highlight but proved insufficient to avert defeat. Essa Warriors emerged victorious, with Rakesh’s impactful bowling performance earning him the Man of the Match honours.
