Dear Naga People,
Today is our Sacred Naga National Martyrs' Day for the remembrance of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Naga freedom of sovereignty. Therefore, as we prayerfully observe this day, I pay my homage in obeisance to all the Naga martyrs on behalf of the Naga National Council.
The Naga people and nation was and is founded on historical and political rights christened by the Naga Martyrs' blood and thousands of precious lives for the very purpose of a sovereign independent state which is to be governed by themselves and free from external forces. But the British Government came accidentally and occupied our land by force from 1832 to 1947,and established her administration and governed some portion of Naga Hills of inhabited land of the Nagas and officially recognized Naga people and land by an Act of 1935 called, "Naga Hills Excluded Area," passed in their House of Lords (Parliament) from British India rule based on the Naga Memorandum by the Naga Club on behalf of the Naga people at large in 1929. But British Government betrayed the Naga people by keeping silent till date, therefore the British Government was and is entirely held responsible for the fate and plight of the Naga people in the first place. And this is the fact and crux of the political problem created by the United Kingdom of Great Britain. After the British Government granted freedom of independence to India in 1947 and left, the Govt. of India forcefully occupied Nagaland by telling lie that the then British Govt. has handed over Nagaland to India without any proof of official document in this matter or any Act of nullification of the 1935 Act of British India, fully aware about the declaration of Naga Independence on 14th August 1947 acknowledged by the United Nations Organization.
Therefore, this was and is an act of forceful aggression of Nagaland by Government of India in complete violation of international human rights. After occupation, India divided the ancestral land of the Nagas with Burma in 1953 without the consultation and consent of Naga people and left out half of our people and land.
Thereafter, India further divided our land into different states of North-East Region without any consent of the Naga people. This naked aggression and oppression of Nagaland by India for the last more than seventy long years of her dictatorial and inhuman action cannot be justified being the largest democracy in the world.
Further, in the name of Naga Peace Talk and negotiation, the motive of Government of India is to trample the Naga historical and political rights by imposing divide and rule policy and implying their own will and wishes with some Groups and creating division and chaos in the Naga Homeland. This unwanted situation is advocated by none other than the Interlocutor of Naga Peace Talk who was appointed to carry out the plan and policy to destroy the Historical and Political Rights of Naga people. The Naga people have come to a very crucial juncture where our freedom and rights are at stake, so let us speak out and stand firm on the truth to protect our freedom and peace in the Homeland.
Therefore, let us rise together and speak out this matter to the United Nations (UN) and seek for UN intervention in this regard and ask neighbouring countries for help and support to defend and liberate the Naga people and Nation. After so many years of political negotiations, the Government of India knowing fully well about Naga political rights and situation is forcefully trampling the inalienable rights of the Naga freedom of sovereignty.This is sheer dictatorial and brutal on the part of Government of India and the Interlocutor of Naga Peace Talk in particular.
Lastly but not the least the Naga National Council earnestly appeal to all the Naga people in the Homeland and around the world to pray earnestly to our living God to do miracle to save and liberate His believers and people for the Glory of Jesus Christ our Lord.
