Spring Market Affair opens at State Botanical Garden Kohima

KOHIMA, MAY 22 (MExN): A three-day Spring Market Affair began at the State Botanical Garden, New Ministers’ Hill, Kohima on May 21, bringing together local entrepreneurs, artisans, plant enthusiasts and workshop facilitators on a common platform.

The event is being curated by Petals & Pearls in collaboration with the Silviculture Division.

Chairing the programme, Florence T. Sangtam, Range Forest Officer, Silviculture Range, Kohima, said the event is a celebration of nature, sustainability and community participation.

Guest of Honour Lhinghoikim Touthang, Conservator of Forests (RP & U), described the Botanical Garden as a “living library of plants” that promotes biodiversity conservation, environmental education and public awareness.

She stressed the importance of gardening and creative hobbies in reducing stress, encouraging healthier lifestyles and supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses. She also conveyed her best wishes for the successful conduct of the event.

Speaking on behalf of the organising team, Kenei Mor said the event celebrates creativity, culture, local entrepreneurship and community collaboration by bringing together artisans, entrepreneurs and workshop facilitators.

The Spring Market Affair features plants, flowers, handcrafted products, food stalls, floral and lifestyle displays, artisanal shopping and creative workshops, including soap making, decoupage, bonsai making, floral arrangement and gift wrapping.
