JAKHAMA, MAY 2 (MExN): Sr. M Adu Celine Rolnu made her Perpetual Profession as a permanent member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, in Jakhama, her native village, in the Church of Mary Help of Christians, on May 1.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland, solemnized the occasion as the main celebrant for the Holy Eucharistic celebration and the ceremony of perpetual profession.
Bishop James in his homily congratulated Sr. M Adu Celine Rolnu, for her courage and readiness to serve God and the Church through a life of total dedication and surrender. “It is a public act of faith and not merely a private matter. She, through the evangelical vows of poverty, obedience and chastity, proclaims to the world of an order and values different from what the world hold dear. She becomes an eschatological sign of the transcendence of God’s kingdom over all earthly concerns.” The bishop also reminded the congregation that a religious could live the vows only through prayer, reception of the sacraments and an attitude of humility. Religious life, the bishop emphasized is not a profession but a vocation – a vocation to love.
Rev. Sr. Assumpta, the delegate of the Superior General, accepted the vows of Sr. Adu Celine on behalf of the congregation along with Sr. Joy, the Provincial Superior.
During the felicitation function that followed, Thomas, the cousin of Sr. Celine expressed their gratitude to God and to all people who helped her to journey through the religious life, particularly all the communities where she lived. They also presented token of gratitude to them. Sr. Adu Celine meanwhile thanked everyone who accompanied her in her human and religious journey.
