Students of St John College Dimapur distributing food packets as part of their charity drive.

DIMAPUR, APRIL 24 (MExN): The Women’s Cell/ Anti- Ragging & Sexual Harassment cell along with the NSS unit of St John College Dimapur jointly organised a charity drive on April 20.
The charity drive was carried out by the students of NSS and the faculty members of the two cells with a purpose to relieve the homeless and beggars with a one day meal. The students distributed the packed food and bottled water in various locations around Dimapur namely, HongKong Market, Dimapur railway station, and its surrounding areas.
The significance of this charity drive was to introduce the students to the importance of generosity, to make them realise the feeling of social conscience in supporting and doing the least they could to relieve the poor and the needy.
The students through this event were ensured with a sense of responsibility and hence reinforced with their own personal values and principles. The event was made possible with voluntary donations from the students and faculty members of St John College.
Excursion tour
The Department of History and Department of Education, St John College organised an excursion cum study tour to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur from April 11 to 19. The tour was arranged with the aim to equip the students with real world experiences and to provide knowledge about various people and cultures.
The trip included visits to various places of historical and educational significance. One of the first visits that the students took was to witness the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. The study tour on the following day set about with a long trip to the Pink city- Jaipur, wherein, the students took a tour around the city to witness the majestic Amber Fort, the Hawa Mahal and the Jal Mahal.
A lecture cum learning session was also organised on April 16 at Ramjas College, Delhi University, where students got the opportunity to attend two lectures followed by an interactive session. The tour concluded with more visits to the historical Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Jama Masjid. The weeklong tour consisted of37 students from both the Departments accompanied by 5 faculty members.
