St John College Zoology Dept visits AAU’s College of Fisheries

A total of 27 students with 2 lecturers and a Lab assistant from St John College Zoology Department went for a field trip to College of Fisheries, under Assam Agricultural University  (AAU), Raha Nagaon Assam on February 22. 

 


The objective of the trip was to learn about fish cultures, construction & management of fish ponds, food and feeding habits of fish.  In addition, the trip was undertaken to “consolidate on what has been learnt in the ‘Introduction to Aquaculture’ syllabus,” a press release from the department informed. 

 


A lecture was delivered on aquaculture followed by a Question and Answer session while the students were shown different types of ponds constructed, it said. The students were also imparted knowledge on methods applied for integrated fish culture by Ritu Raj, Lab technician. The team was guided by S Baishya, Assistant Professor of Aquaculture Department, it added.
