Standing committee for free, fair by-poll

MOKOKCHUNG, APRIL 5 (DIPR): In a move to conduct bye-election to 29-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency in a fair and peaceful manner, a District Level Standing Committee has been constituted with Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, Lithrongla G. Chishi as Convener.
Members of the Committee are Additional Deputy Commissioner & Assistant Returning Officer R. Asenla Keitzar, SP Mokokchung, all the Administrative Officers in the district, President, BJP/DCC(1)/NPF, President, Ao Senden, President, Senior Citizen, President, Watsu  Mungdang, President, AKM and AEO & ARO Mokokchung  as Member Secretary.
Deputy Commissioner in an order said, the Committee will meet from time to time to share views and opinions to ensure a peaceful, free and fair conduct of election. The first meeting of the Committee will be held on 8th April at 1:00 p.m. in the DC’s conference Hall. Meanwhile, R. Asenla Keitzar, ADC & ARO has been appointed as Designated Officer for the purpose of inspection and scrutiny of day-to-day account of election expenses as maintained by a candidate.
The candidate should make available before the Designated Officer, their day-to-day account of election expenses as maintained in the register together with the supporting documents once in three days, which means every third day, throughout the period between the filling of nomination and declaration of result, both days inclusive.
Failure on the part of the candidate to produce the register and the supporting documents for inspection and scrutiny as aforementioned shall be treated as a major default and liable to penal action under Section 171-1 of the Indian Penal Code.
Monitoring Cell for observance of Model Code of Conduct and complaints has also been set up under the Charge of Kesonyu Yhome IAS, SDO (C)-1 and Vikram Khalate IPS, SDPO Mokokchung.
