State BJP extends Hornbill greetings

Dimapur, December 3 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland has extended hearty greetings to the people of Nagaland, participants, performers, and visitors on the occasion of Hornbill festival celebration.  

A statement from the state BJP stated that the “festival of festivals” celebrated every year is held to combine, revive and protect the rich distinct cultures of all the Naga tribes and encourage inter-tribal interaction and promote cultural heritage of Nagaland.  

Named after one of the most venerated bird species, the Hornbill festival was firstly celebrated in 2000. Nagas were agrarian society decades ago and still about 70% of the people of Nagaland depends on agriculture. Hence, most of their festivals revolve around agriculture which they considere as sacred.  

Stating that Nagas should be proud of the rich tradition, the state BJP urged that Nagas continue to maintain the unique heritage and customs.
