State level celebration of Ayushman Bharat held in Kohima

Kohima, April 14 (MExN): The State level celebration of Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Center Diwas felicitation programme-cum-review meeting was held at the Capital Convention Centre Kohima on April 14.

A DIPR report stated that Director (Health Office) USAID, Sangita Patel addressing the Community Health Workers said, ‘the certificates represent the hard work and dedication over the past several years, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and even beyond.’ With Ayushman Bharat, we will see that community healthcare system continue to improve and people will avail better healthcare system, she said. “Success and failure depends on the participation of all the stakeholders, and appealed for continued help for its development and growth,” she said.  Joint Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Ajit Ranjan in his keynote address, expressed appreciation to all the health workers for rendering their tremendous service and leadership skills. 

Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dr Thorkhusie Katiry in his welcome address, mentioned that Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) was launched as a step towards Universal Health Coverage. UHC entails ensuring all people have access to quality health services including prevention, promotion, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliation without incurring financial hardship.  The concept covers three key elements, namely access, quality, and financial protection.

India is committed to achieving Universal Health Care For All by 2030, which is fundamental to achieving the other Sustainable Development Goals. Earlier, Awards were given to Best Performing CHO which was followed by unveiling of Wash learning Resource Package (poster and iLearn module).
