As our city continues to grow and develop, it’s essential that we prioritize inclusivity and accessibility in our public spaces. One area that requires attention is our dream project called “Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex (MDSC) which is located at Lotha Colony, Dimapur, Nagaland. Many stadiums lack adequate facilities and accommodations for disabled individuals, creating barriers to participation and enjoyment. It’s time for our city to invest in our new stadium that put accessibility at its core.
Disabled individuals face significant obstacles in accessing Stadiums, including:
• No/Inadequate seating and viewing areas
• No/Insufficient wheelchair ramps
• Lack of accessible restrooms
• No/Inadequate signage in Braille or other accessible formats
So requesting and urge the government to see and invest the new stadium that prioritizes accessibility, featuring:
• Wheelchair-accessible seating and viewing areas
• Wide ramps and elevators
• Accessible restrooms
• Clear signage in Braille or other accessible formats
• Assistive listening systems and audio descriptions.
An accessible stadium benefits not only disabled individuals but also families with stroller or young children, seniors with mobility issues, veterans with disabilities etc.
Let’s build together to build a stadium that welcomes and includes everyone. We call on the government to prioritize accessibility and create a space where all citizens can enjoy sports, entertainment, and community events. Together, we can make our city a more inclusive and equitable place for all.
