Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): In order to take up immediate measures to strengthen the power grid of the country, those states particularly in north east region which do not have State Load dispatch Centre (SLDC) have been asked to submit Detailed Project Report (DPR).
This was discussed during the 5th meeting of the National Power Committee held at New Delhi on November 9. The meeting took note of the fact that the country was experiencing disturbance in power supply with the onset of winter and rapid depletion of water. “Therefore, as an immediate measure to strengthen the power grid of the country, those states that do not have SLDC are asked to submit DPR at the earliest,” said Doshehe Y. Sema, Minister of Power government of Nagaland who is also the chairman of NPC and NE Region Power Committee.
Every state in the country was instructed to strengthen and also take precautionary measures to avoid causing disturbances to the grid so that the collapse of northern grid of July 2012 incident will not be repeated
NPC Chairman, Doshehe has convened the next NPC meeting on January 11, 2013 at Kohima where all the five regional power committee members of the country would be attending the meeting. Experts in hydro electric project, thermal power plant and information technology from Germany are expected to attend the meeting.
