In response to the news item written by Vihoshe Sumi of Old Town in Zunheboto, alleging Sumi Totimi Hoho’s (STH) silence on the rape incident at Satakha town on May 5, the STH clarifies that like all other non-governmental organizations, the STH at Satakha town has its own rules, regulations and functions within its jurisdiction. Since the rape incident occurred in Satakha town it is prerogative of the STH Satakha to take action within its own jurisdiction. Therefore, question of division within the STH does not even arise. All STH units jointly fight against rape incident in our land so it is not necessary to blame Atoli Kivikhu, the President of STH Zunheboto for not condemning the rape incident of Satakha. The STH has already issued a condemnation note on May 6.
We therefore, in one voice once again condemn the rape committed by Kakiho Zhimo of Satakha town on a minor girl o May 5. We also appeal to the law enforcing authority not to grant bail to such shameless man but to award him the hardest punishment, as the Bible says “the wages of sin is death.”
Vikali Achumi,
President, STH,
Nagaland.
